Eh Too

Interviewed: May 16, 2015

Interviewer: Wes Van de Water

Eh Htoo (pronounced "Eh Too") is a 32-year-old man from the Karen State in Burma. In his youth he was taken by the Burmese military and forced to work as a porter hauling munitions on the frontlines of battlefields. When he was 18, he escaped from the Burmese military and went to the Mae La refugee camp where he lived for nine years. His hope for the project was to allow his voice and experiences to be heard so that awareness could be generated about the conflict and people in Burma/Karen State. During his interview, he spoke about life in the Karen State, moving to a refugee camp, his family, and his life here in the United States.
