Interviewed: May 19, 2015

Interviewer: Meagan Gill

Aye Win is a 41-year-old mother to four boys. Currently, she and her family reside in Logan, Utah. When Aye Win was living in her home country of Burma, she and a friend left the Karen State due to fear of losing their lives. They crossed the border to Thailand. Eventually, a fight broke out between the Burmese and Karen military, lasting for three days and nights. Many people died and Aye Win fled with survivors to safety in a refugee camp. In the camp Aye Win got married, had some of her children, and for a time ran a small shop. On June 9, 2008, Aye Win and her family arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah.
