Conclusion

Richard Turner's Compendium allows us to see the changes in the way society views education in the early modern period.  The new discoveries of the Renaissance were included in this work of math and science, and the invention of the printing press meant that Turner could afford to dedicate his work to a larger audience.  Knowledge was becoming more widespread and learning for its own sake more socially acceptable.  Turner's Compendium served a wide variety of purposes; it sat on shelves in the studies of fine English gentlemen, was used by workers on the job, and was taught to young adults.
