Homecoming Dances
Originally USU held Homecoming Dances for returning alumni. These formal events occurred first at the Student Union Building and later at the Alumni House. The dance often included a banquet as well. Attendance was by invitation only, and the alumni Association invited all of the Alumni on their records. As a result, these dances were multigenerational evenings for reminiscing and networking with fellow Aggies.
The most recent version of the Homecoming Dance is a 1970s themed evening, a trend which became popular during the late 1990s. Students are usually the attendees of these dances, which feature loud music and even louder clothes. The dance ends at midnight, at which time those who want to participate in the True Aggie tradition all troop out together to the Block A to do so. Occasionally, a more formal event is held to honor the older tradition.[1]
