Aggie Football Greats

The Aggies have fielded some great teams and produced many outstanding players since beginning intercollegiate play in 1901. While many players received awards for regional and conference play, only a handful of Aggies have received national recognition as First-Team All-Americans. The results of their Homecoming games are varied, however.

In December 2017, Jalen Davis became the latest Aggie All-American. He started all thirteen games at cornerback in 2017, completing thirty-three tackles, breaking up fifteen passes, and returning five interceptions for 120 yards. Davis tied two Mountain West records by intercepting three passes and returning two for touchdowns against BYU. The Aggies faced the Wyoming Cowboys on October 14, 2017, for their Homecoming Game. Despite Davis’s good play, including a sack, the two teams were well matched and the Aggies lost 28–23. Since being named First-Team All-American, Jalen has signed a free-agent contract with the Miami Dolphins.[1]

All-Americans comprise only a small percentage of Aggie players that went on to sterling careers in the NFL. Many players who honed their skills as USU Aggies currently pepper the rosters of NFL teams.
