Arbaeen Walk, South Gate, LA
.
A group of Shia Iranians walk down the streets of the South Gate neighborhood in Los Angeles as part of an Islamic procession in commemoration of the martyrdom of the third Shia Imam—Imam Hossein (625–680).
Arbaeen (meaning forty in Arabaic) is a Shia observance that occurs forty days after the Martyrdom of Hossein.
Roses are distributed to bystanders along the procession route. Flyers with the text "There is no Place for Terrorism in Islam" are placed on the windshield of parked cars and put in the mailboxes of homes along Seville Avenue.
