Excerpt from Speech by Dr. Daryl Chase[1]

 

Dr. Chase started the Center for the Study of the Causes of War and the Conditions for Peace with inspirational goals. He felt that colleges and universities had the best resources to answer the important questions about war and peace. His emphasis on research and learning did not attract the attention or involvement of students. When Dr. Chase left Utah State University in 1973 there was no one left with an interest in promoting the Center. There was disagreement about the direction the Center should go. In spite of some short term local involvement and international prestige, the only success the Center achieved was in the classes offered to promote education and learning. Although there was never an offical end date for the War and Peace Center at Utah State, by 1990, all activity had ceased. 

 The lack of student involvement and another dynamic leader to take over when Dr. Chase left led to failure by the Center for the Study of the Causes of War and the Conditions of Peace to make any significant accomplishments.
