Perhaps the most well-known Danse Macabre image is Anton Koberger’s Liber Chronicarum, more commonly known as the Nuremberg Chronicle, printed in 1493. It is a world history from biblical creation to the “Seventh Age,” or the days of judgement from which this image takes center stage.
