EXHIBITS
Plants in the Renaissance
Summary
This exhibit explores John Gerard's Herbal: The General History of Plants, a book describing many varieties of plants used in England. He discusses the physical descriptions, uses in medicine or food, and other unique attributes of the plants.
The Herbal was a favorite for botanists and physicians of the time, as it had the knowledge of many compiled within just two volumes, allowing for convenience and ease of use.
We strongly recommend that you do not consume any plants you may come across that resemble those seen in this exhibit; unless you can be absolutely sure of their safety.
