San Francisco CA Aug. 2nd Dear Jack:- My reading of the papers is rather erratic theses days and I just discovered in a stray copy of The 'Examiner' that you were back from Haway [Hawaii?]. Accept therefore my belated but hearty welcome. Your return would have been a mighty fine excuse for me to come up and rubber around for a few days but luck is with you this time. I must stay in town and keep on bullying the Superintendent of the new City Hall for a job when the interior finishing
